PROGRAM EVOLUTION

OUR STAFF

Welcome to the Columbia Basin Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program website. The CBFWCP is a joint initiative between BC Hydro, the BC Government (Ministry of Environment) and Fisheries & Oceans Canada to conserve and enhance fish and wildlife populations affected by the construction of BC Hydro dams in Canada's portion of the Columbia Basin.

A second important mandate is public communications and consultation: communicate with the public on Program activities; where appropriate, consult with local conservation groups and communities on projects; and to share the results of our work with the public, resource managers and the scientific community. That's one of the primary purposes of this website.

Since its inception in 1995, CBFWCP has delivered hundreds of projects with an almost equal number of partners including many local conservation groups. Our projects range from small wetlands creation to the largest lake restoration project in the world, from bull trout genetics to cougar-prey ecology.

We hope you will find the information on this website exciting and informative. We appreciate any feedback from you on how we can improve this website service. And please come back again -- often.

Sincerely,

Maureen DeHaan
Program Manager
